If miles and miles of under-utilized strips of land that everyone travels by daily, which are currently either lawn or paving, were replaced by gardens, imagine the incredible impact that would have on our communities. My project is centered on these "boulevard gardens" (A.K.A. "verge" or "hellstrip gardens") that are found in cities all over the world, and it sets a new standard for environmental education efforts for how effectively it has instilled an appreciation for nature within a diverse audience, inspired citizens to install these gardens, and encouraged policy makers to facilitate their creation — all the while helping to build community.
