This session explores how landscape architects and allied professionals use bicycling as a mode for advocacy, education, research, and design fieldwork. Presenters will detail how incorporating bicycle rides into our practice adds value to our understanding of place and fosters empathy for diverse users of infrastructure in the built environment.

Learning Outcomes:

Learn how landscape architects and allied professionals use bicycling as a mode for advocacy, education, research, and design fieldwork.
Demonstrate the ways in which bicycle rides can activate dialogue between designers and communities and foster empathy for diverse users of infrastructure in the built environment.
Share examples of using bicycle rides to add value to our understanding of place and connect us to the world around us.
Outline actionable guidance for the practice of climate-positive design by highlighting how active transportation intersects broader issues such as sustainability, accessibility, and equity.
