MON-B04: Getting a Seat at the Table: Advocating for the Holistic Landscape Architect

This session addresses “setting the table” of contemporary practice by focusing on strategies that assert one’s presence within the profession. Through the lenses of generational shifts, volunteerism, and cultural change, we explore the nuances of achieving balance and finding success in professional/personal spheres while remaining active in private practice.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Establish tools and tactics for individuals to enact change within their organization.
  • Understand opportunities for firm leadership to adapt the current organization to better accommodate a mix/range of generations.
  • Identify the tools for successful work-life integration within the context of a practice.
  • Understand how Metcalfe’s law is critical to the profession of landscape architecture’s cultural future.
