This session examines the current state of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in landscape architecture by looking at various DEI initiatives being implemented by the DEI committees of two local ASLA chapters: New York and Michigan. The session explores where the next steps toward DEI in our profession should be heading .

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the goals and impacts of DEI initiatives in landscape architecture at both national and local levels.
  • Understand the evolution of DEI initiatives in landscape architecture at both national and local levels.
  • Learn about resources available to help increase DEI in landscape architecture at local levels.
  • Learn about creative models and collaborative approaches that demonstrate how DEI contributes to an improved built environment.
