Washington D.C. boasts a rich history that extends far beyond the National Mall. Throughout the district, there are numerous untold stories of the unsung heroes, activists, and local leaders who have played a significant role in shaping the city's heritage. This field session aims to uncover the history of African American individuals who were instrumental in laying the foundation for both our nation and its capital.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Uncover the often-untold stories of African American individuals who have played significant roles in shaping Washington D.C.'s heritage. Learning to uncover and integrate these hidden histories into landscape architecture practice fosters a more inclusive and comprehensive approach to design.
