WED-FS-01: Musings on Glenstone: An Immersive Photo Reflection of Art, Architecture, and Landscape

By touring Glenstone—a place for art, landscape, and architecture—designers and photography enthusiasts will work with professionals to enhance their landscape architecture photography. In this hands-on session, photo assignments followed by a group critique at the ASLA Center on Landscape Architecture will assist attendees in achieving professional photographic techniques.

Includes: transportation, catered lunch. Extensive walking. The Glenstone Museum is closed to the public this day.

Required: DSLR—digital camera preferred. Participants must have working knowledge of their cameras specific model. Charged batteries and battery charger, memory cards and card readers. Tripods are highly encouraged to achieve professional quality results.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Working with professionals in the field, acquire the skills that make a big impact in achieving high-quality images, focusing on composition, light, and depth of field.
  • Understand the range of photographs that magazine publishers are looking for and the power of good image selection.
  • Learn how to photograph images that support a project’s narrative and understand the specific design intent of the field session site.
  • Critique photographs in a group setting, allowing for different perspectives to help improve the way you capture images and see the landscape.
