Kara Lanahan has over a decade of experience leading diverse projects, from intimate gardens to complex, interdisciplinary teams. As a Principal at Horn & Company, she manages commercial and residential projects, with a focus on mentorship. In her previous role with Oehme van Sweden, she designed a range of landscapes, including the FDR Prayer Addition to the WWII Memorial. Devoted to weaving a site’s history into her work, Kara creates spaces that are experientially rich, ecologically activated, and timeless. She studied Environmental Science at Colby College before returning to the University of Virginia for her Masters of Landscape Architecture.
