Architect of the Capitol
Jim is responsible for preserving and maintaining more than 280 acres of historic landscape and infrastructure across the U.S. Capitol campus. He began his career with the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) in 2009 as the Horticulture Manager for the U.S. Botanic Garden. He joined Capitol Grounds and Arboretum (CGA) as Deputy Superintendent in 2017 and was selected Director in 2018. He is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborist and a Certified Educational Facility Professional (CEFP) through APPA, Leadership in Educational Facilities. Jim holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland University College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University.
