Architectural Research Manager

Caroline Spurry is Mount Vernon’s Architectural Research Manager and architectural historian with degrees from Franklin and Marshall College, and The George Washington University. She’s responsible for the research, documentation, and physical investigations associated with Mount Vernon’s historic 18th-century structures, historic area maintenance and cleaning for various mansion rooms, as well as the cupola, North Colonnade, and Mansion exterior. She’s been involved with restorations of the North & South Garden Houses, Kitchen, Servants’ Hall, and Smokehouse. The preservation team she leads works with every estate department. Outside of Mount Vernon, Caroline is currently on the board of the Vernacular Architecture Forum.
