Darneka Waters is a Park Planner for Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, responsible for capital planning and development coordination, public engagement, and master plan implementation for parks, greenways, nature preserves, and more. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.
With many years of design and community engagement experience, she is known for her participation in industry and community-based organizations as a facilitator and educator. She regularly volunteers within the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) at the national and state levels. Currently, Waters serves as a Board Member for Black Landscape Architects Network (BlackLAN).
