Hans Klein-Hewett is a licensed landscape architect, an Assistant Professor in Iowa State University's Department of Landscape Architecture, and a faculty member in Iowa State’s Graduate Program of Sustainable Agriculture. He teaches design studios and lectures about landscape materials, construction documentation, and professional practice.
Hans’ research focuses on rural parks as determinants of rural sustainability. He does this by examining rural parks through lenses of natural resource management, recreation, economic development, tourism, and health and well-being. He also studies students’ perceptions of high-impact design pedagogy to improve student outcomes and experiences in landscape architectural education.
