Laura Shipman is an urban planner with the National Capital Planning Commission. She currently leads the agency’s efforts to reenvision Independence Avenue, SW, a key framing corridor for the National Mall, to better support multimodal connectivity and public life. Her work also focuses on the review of federal plans and projects in the National Capital Region to advance equity, sustainability, resilience and design quality. Laura holds a Master of Architecture in Urban Design with Distinction from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University School of Architecture, Art and Planning.
