Rita joined the DC Office of Planning in 2019 where she's worked on efforts around building massing and streetscape design, activation, and permitting. She is known for her involvement in the Streatery Program that supported public space and economic recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, she continues her recovery work through the Downtown DC Public Realm Plan. Rita has a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture &Ecosystem Management from the American University of Beirut. She serves on the DC Pedestrian Advisory Council and co-leads OP’s Racial Equity Group.
