Assistant Director for Horticulture
M-NCPPC Montgomery Parks
Wheaton, Maryland
Christopher Elenstar is the Assistant Director for Horticulture at Brookside Gardens, where he manages the outdoor landscapes and plant collections. With a degree in Turfgrass Science, he started his career working on golf courses before realizing that he wanted to explore deeper reaches of horticulture. Pursuing a master’s degree in Environmental Biology exposed him to all the connections between living and non-living things. He learned from his experiences at plant nurseries and many public gardens to find his passion focusing on healthy ecosystems, native flora and fauna, and sustainable practices in beautifully designed landscapes that benefit the planet.
